Fysieke eigenschappen

Diethyl ((phenylacetyl) malonaat heeft een kookpunt van 120 °C. De dichtheid ervan wordt voorspeld op 1,148±0,06 g/cm3.

Gebruik

Organische synthese tussenprodukten.

Voorbereiding

De met diethylftalaat en natriummetaal geco-verdampte watervrije ethanol wordt in druppeltjes aan het mengsel van diethylmalonaat, koolstoftetrachloride en magnesium toegevoegd, verhit om de reactie te starten,en de temperatuur wordt gecontroleerd om de reactie glad te makenVoeg dan waterloze diethylether toe, verhit gedurende 1 uur, voeg de diethyletheroplossing van fenylacetylchloride toe (voeg langzaam toe, zodat de reactie niet te intens wordt).koel en voeg water toe, scheiden de olieschaal en verdampen de diethylether onder verlaagde druk om diethyl ((phenylacetyl) malonaat te krijgen.
